Rules

Here are some basic rules and facts about True Poker. If, at anytime, you do not feel as though these rules or facts are correct, or are being enforced improperly, please do not hesitate to contact us at support@truepoker.com. First you can download our free poker software.
  1. Games are table stakes.
  2. Games have a three-raise maximum per betting round.
  3. Check raising is permitted.
  4. One player to a hand. No advice may be given by any third party and no discussion of an ongoing hand is allowed.
  5. No short buy-ins are allowed.
  6. As Worm said in the movie Rounders, "All conversation or chat must be in English only." Okay, he didn't say it that politely.
  7. Abusive language, discourteous behavior or critical, personal comments about other players will not be allowed.
  8. All decisions made by the Hosts are final for playing purposes. Play will resume once the Host has ruled. If a player thereafter wishes to appeal a decision, please contact management@truepoker.com and provide the hand number and a description of the event. (link to e-mail: management@truepoker.com)
  9. No side bets are allowed in any game. No real money gambling is allowed in play money games.
  10. Management reserves all rights to interpret and enforce these rules and to resolve any disputes or issues not addressed hereunder.
  11. All "chat" at the Truepoker tables must be in English as courtesy to our players and support staff, the majority of whom are English speakers.

Sit and Play

Use the Poker Tables window to reach Tables. The Poker Tables window can be toggled on or off at any time by using the Tables button in the menu bar at the upper left corner of the main display. Or, if you're in the Lounge, just click on the bartender.

The Poker Tables window gives you a choice of games: Hold'em Poker, Omaha, Hold'em High-Low, and Omaha High-Low.

Use the tabs along the top to choose your game. You'll then see a list of Tables for that particular game showing the stakes and the number of players in each Table. A single mouse click on any listed Table yields a pop-up menu of relevant choices for the Table in question such as "Sit down", "Who's here", etc.

To sit down at a table, double-click a poker Table.

If a game is underway, you'll be invited to join the next hand of play. Where possible, you as a new player, will be seated to make the Big Blind at the beginning of the next hand.

If you're just the second person to join a Table, the game will start shortly after you sit down.

To leave a table, you have three choices:
  1. Stand up. You stay in the Table, but are not seated or playing.
  2. Go to another Table. Use the Poker Tables Board to move directly to another Table or the lounge.
  3. Exit True Poker. First stand up by clicking the Stand-Up button in the upper right corner of the main display, then click the X in the upper right area of the main window to exit. You can also exit from a seated position by clicking the X.

Watch

To watch a game, use the Poker Tables window to select a Table. (Again, the Poker Tables window can be toggled on or off at any time by using the Tables button in the menu bar at the upper left corner of the main display. Or, if you're in the Lounge, just click on the bartender.)

Use the tabs along the top to choose a game. Then choose a Table from the list of Tables for that particular game. Single click the Table, then choose Watch Game from the pop-up menu that appears.

(Remember, double-clicking a Table will sit you down at the table, so be careful.)

When you've seen enough and want to sit at a table, you can click the Sit Down button displayed in the center of the screen.

Note: If a table is full or nearly full, you might be positioned in an occupied seat; i.e. it may look like you're in the game, but in fact the cards, chips, and hands in front of you belong to another active player. (It's kind of like the movie Being John Malkovich.)

Leave a Table

Once you're sitting at a table in a poker Table, you have three ways to leave the table:
  1. Stand up. You stay in the Table, but are not seated or playing.
  2. Go to another Table by using the Poker Tables window and choose another Table or lounge.
  3. Exit True Poker. First, stand up by clicking the Stand-Up button in the upper right corner of the main display. Then click the X in the upper right area of the main window to exit. You can also exit from a seated position by clicking the X.
You can leave a table any time you like. But, if you're right in the middle of a hand, you'll be warned that leaving will fold your hand.

Get More Chips

There are 4 ways to get more chips:
  1. Click once on the Cashier button in the upper right of the main display
  2. Click once on the Cash Machine in the Lounge
  3. Click once on the Dealer while seated at a table
  4. Click once on your chips while seated at a table
Note: You can't get more chips while playing in a hand of poker.

After using one of the methods above, the Chips window will appear. Use the tabs across the top to choose between your Real and Play money accounts.

Then, use the slider bar or keyboard to type in the desired amount to shift between your Cash and Poker Chips.

Sit Out

To sit out the next hand, or to sit out before a hand begins, select Sit Out Next Hand at the top of the main display. A check mark will appear in the Sit Out Next Hand box.

Alternatively, when you're prompted to Post, you can choose to sit out rather than post.

If you don't act in time during a game, you will sit out automatically.

To sit back in, de-select Sit Out Next Hand at the top of the display. The check mark will disappear.

To learn more about sitting out, see "Sit out" in the Order of Bets section of Poker Basics.

Create a Table

Create a new Table of your own, by clicking once on any Table listed in the Poker Tables Board. Select Add New Table from the pop-up menu.

People on your invite list are automatically granted access to your Table. Other players seeking entry will be prompted to ask for admittance, which you can grant or deny. You can also check the Apply to All check box in the request dialog to deal automatically with future requests.

To create a Public Table, click the Public option, then choose a name, stake and game type. Anyone on the True Poker site can join a public Table you create.

Tables you create will expire an hour or so after the last person leaves.

Hand Histories

To view game events as they unfold, enter a Table and view the Logs window. Toggle the Logs window display on or off by clicking the Logs button in the upper left area of the main display. Choose the Game Play tab within the Logs window.

To see events of past hands, choose Hand History from the Menu button in the upper left of the main display.

The Hand History dialog offers the choice of hand histories of specific hand numbers, or of the past 1 - 5 hands in which you played.

Hand numbers are available by clicking the Dealer while in a Table.

You can record game play as it unfolds by selecting Record Play inside the Logs window. A check mark will appear in the Record Play box. (Click the Logs button in the upper left area of the main display to show or hide the Logs window.) Also True Poker also rates as the safest online poker site in online poker reviews
